Peter Mathews Speaks at Moveon.org Alternative Energy Rally!

Peter Mathews speaks at MoveOn.org rally in Long Beach, California         Professor Peter Mathews addressed participants of an alternative energy rally in Long Beach, sponsored by Moveon.org. The event took place at the bluffs on Ocean Avenue with the Long Beach oil islands in the background.
        The purpose of the demonstration was to bring attention to the need for alternative fuel solutions, such as solar, wind, and electric power technologies. The rally was attended by over 30 local activists who gave Professor Mathews a warm and welcomed reception.
        Professor Mathews stressed the need for both Federal, State, and Local Governments to implement alternative energy programs and help end our dependency on petroleum based fuel systems. He started his speech by stating "What a beautiful sunny day it is! We should use this sun to fuel our energy needs." He commended Moveon.org and other progressive groups who are taking the initiative to move our country beyond oil. "We need to develop alternative energy sources such as solar, wind, and wave power, as well as green technology products to create high paying 21st Century jobs."
        Professor Mathews is also taking the initiative on his own, as he is an avid recycler and drives a Hybrid alternative fuel vehicle.
